ACK-002 Chandra Shekhar Azad

We are really thankful to you for the grand support you have given us. We hope this continues for a long long run. I'm also thankful to my colleuge, TPH for the nice design and the great first post.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chandra Shekhar Azad was a great revolutionary who lived and died for the motherland. When Ramprasad Bismil, the leader of Uttar Pradesh revolutionaries was caught and hanged by the British for his role in the Kakori conspiracy, Azad assumed the leadership.Azad eluded the British for ten years. Together with his band of dedicated young men he fought to liberate India from the foreign rulers. The activities of Azad and his associates contributed in no small measure to the awakening of the Indian masses —a task which the national leaders of the day were trying to achieve through peaceful means.Azad had a strong physique, plenty of common sense and patriotic zeal. The British described him as a terrorist. But he considered himself a freedom fighter. Though the national leaders of the time did not approve of his cult of violence they had great affection and regard for Azad. No less a person than Jawaharlal Nehru helped him with money. When Azad died a martyr's death, Smt. Kamala Nehru took a leading part in getting his body released from police custody and made arrangements for the funeral.Today, there stands a statue of this great revolutionary at Alfred Park in Allahabad where he fought his last battle and died.

Nice Post,thanks!
Chandrashekhar Azad was a great Indian freedom fighter. His fierce patriotism and courage inspired others of his generation to enter freedom struggle.
We should always remember such great peoples, who had scarified their lives for independence.
He often used to recite:
'Dushman ki goliyon ka hum samna karenge,
Azad hee rahein hain, azad hee rahenge'

Awesome job!!!! Chandrashekar Azad was a great patriot - almost a godfather of Bhagat Singh! I really wish we honored actual patriots like these more than we do nowadays!

Excellent post ICC. Very good scan quality. Great selection.

The blog is attracting global traffic and therefore it is good to provide introduction of the character in the post, as we have done. ACKs are brilliant.

Many thanks for the comic.
TPH you are right. Many people who havent heard of ACKs would now be able to read them!
Azads story is fascinating. ACK has done a good job out of it. We know that the struggle for independence had two fractions. The violent and non-violent. Azad's, Bhagat Singh and Netajis stand was very controversial. Especially that of Netaji: siding with Germans and the Japanese. Today we speak of their struggle and that of Gandhiji as one and the same. I am sure their were great differences of philosophy and opinion at that time.

Once in while ACK overstates the point: "such was the daring of young Azad";" so afraid of the british were of Azad etc." It would be better if the reader figured this out for oneself. Yes it was meant for children. But then children are pretty smart.

If I am not wrong in page 31 Azad is shot in the left thigh. There is no blood anywhere in his legs on Page 32 and in page 33 his right thigh!

Azad looks like a 35 year old and not a 25 year old!

These are some of the troubles of growing up. You start finding fault with everything!

Superb effort! and nice to have an intro for every story. I have a suggestion... Unlike other comics why not post ACK's on a particular day/days of the week on a regular basis? Just a suggestion....

.... being run by TPH / ICC / CW, you can easily maintain the consistancy between you three... and we will have 'ACK day/days' to look forward to!

ICC,TPH,CW.....great effort.Keep them coming. One question, does anybody know which was the first ACK ever to be published?I mean name of the book.
Again the same comics with the same paper quality are republished, the only difference being name and cover"DELUXE EDITION"
But the price, org at 4-6 rs and current at 25-30 rs.Isnt that huge?
Is it that the printing price has gone sky high or is it because of public demand?
